Latest News – June meeting, AGM, fire survey & more

AGM held on 8 May 2018

Thanks to all who attended our AGM last Tuesday, 8 May in Wood Quay.  We had a great turnout.

We wish to note our appreciation to Max Guijt of Shanderry Elevator & Escalator Consultants. Max delivered an informative session on lift safety obligations for apartment owners and OMCs.  There were lots of questions and we ran well over time; we intend to have another similar session in the future.

Your suggestions for our future work are essential.  If you missed the meeting, feel free to drop us an email with your feedback- info@apartmentownersnetwork.org.

Construction Defects – June meeting

Watch out for details of our meeting on Tuesday 26 June.  We plan to have an open forum about construction defects, where those with the same issues can come together to seek to agree an approach.

Apartment Fire Safety Survey – please complete

14 June 2018 is the first anniversary of the tragedy at Grenfell Tower.  Please take a few minutes to complete DCU Business School’s short confidential survey on fire prevention and fire safety in Irish apartments.

The survey results may help to inform fire prevention strategy and government policy, and to contribute to emergency management research.  DCU assure us that their research is completely anonymous.

ODCE Guide to Management Companies

As requested at the AGM, here is the ODCE Company Law Handbook on Owners’ Management Companies.  Note that this publication is from 2008, therefore not updated for Companies Act 2014, but still very useful. We have contacted the ODCE about an updated version.
