Meeting of 21 May 2019
We are very grateful to Dublin Fire Brigade, and Eamon O’Boyle of Eamon O’Boyle & Associates for their fire safety presentations at our meeting of Tuesday, 21 May 2019.  A large attendance prompted an informative Q&A session, expanding on the presenters’ essential fire safety guidance for owners and OMC directors.  Slides from the session are now available on our Fire Safety page.

Thanks to all those who attended our AGM.  We intend in our activity and advocacy in the period ahead to take on board the suggestions raised.

Dáil debate on OMCs/MUDs
As discussed at our meeting, click here for an interesting recent Dáil debate on the OMC/MUD sector. Our advocacy work receives mention.  The debate refers to the provisions of the Property Services (Regulation) (Amendment) (Management Company Regulation) Bill 2018.  It is welcome to see these matters receive the attention of legislators.

Lending to OMCs
We are interested to have a sense of finance options available to owners’ management companies to meet capital expenditure works.  We would appreciate if you would take the time to email us, in confidence, to let us know-

  • If your OMC has borrowed funds from a financial institution?
  • If not, is your OMC interested in hearing about credit options available?

Defects Redress Scheme – Petition

Have you signed our petition hosted on the Uplift campaign site- click here?

This calls on Government to implement the recommendations of the Oireachtas Housing Committee All-Party “Safe as Houses?” report, including a redress scheme for homes affected by fire and other life safety construction defects.

Apartment Living – National Survey

We have been asked to advise that Amárach Research , on behalf of the Housing Agency, will shortly undertake a national satisfaction survey of apartment living.  Accredited researchers will call to estates in the coming weeks.  Your property management agent may already be aware of the study.  We encourage you to engage, and to facilitate participation by residents of your estate.


National Volunteering Week 2019

National Volunteering Week takes place from 13–19 May 2019.  It is billed as a week dedicated to highlighting volunteering across Ireland.

In the week that it is, we salute all of you who have stepped up to serve as volunteer directors of your owners’ management company.  We know all too well that more often than not it is a thankless task.  You are not alone in your work; the Network continues to advocate on your behalf.  “Ar scáth a chéile a mhaireann na daoine.
